NIADA Artist Original Doll by Cecilia Rothman 11" Jasmine

$125.00

NIADA Artist Doll by Cecilia Rothman - 11" Jasmine. This is a really lovely doll incised on shoulder plate by NIADA artist Cecilia Rothman. She is NOT a manufactured doll. This is an original by the artist herself. This doll is named Jasmine "Country Bride." She has a hand sculpted bisque shoulderhead, lower arms with delicately sculpted fingers and bisque legs and is on a cloth body with a wire armature. Her dress is creamy white with a lace and net overlay, pink satin sash and a cameo at the center of her neckline. Her wig is a coarse blonde mohair and ties in the back with a ribbon and she wears a hair garland. She also carries a long stemmed bouquet of matching flowers in her right hand. She has two delicate petticoats trimmed with lace and pantalets. Her shoes are white leather with tiny pink rosettes at the toes. She is incised on her back shoulder Cecilia copyright 1976. The doll is pictured on page 115 of the book "A Collector's Guide to Contemporary Artist Dolls" by Susanna Oroyan and Carol-Lynn Rossel Waugh. The article in the book states that although she uses a base mold for her dolls, each is individually sculpted, making each of the numbers of her editions one-of-a-kind (see pics 11 & 12). The doll is in great condition with no damage or odors. This is from the collection of the late noted paper doll artist Peggy Jo Rosamond, whose doll collection and ephemera were sold at her estate sale in 1999. A Super nice original artist doll. Please e-mail with any questions.
